I am finally get back into sewing. I probably needed a break but home renovations made it a very long break, much too long. I've only made a couple little things like hooded baby bath towels. I really need to make some more jeans and jean shorts (denim and/or twill). I have about 9 yards of brown denim that I got at an auction. In my mind I see shorts, long pants and a lined (reversible?) vest with lots of pockets, inside and out. And the outer pockets have metal zippers.
What I'm most excited about is joining a "local" American Sewing Guild group. I put "local" in quotation marks because it is a full hour away across Iowa farmland. But I'm to the point where I think it's worth it. I considered starting a group here in Cedar Falls, but it looks like it could be a lot of work to make it successful. The Cedar Rapids group has a lot of good activities, so I'll join their group for now. And next month they have a sewing retreat/day camp. I'm not sure if I'll be able to go, but it looks like fun. I already met someone who belongs to that group (when I was at a meeting of a state nurses organization - careful what you volunteer for!).
AND I signed up to go to the University of Wisconsin-Platteville Sewing and Quilting Expo at the beginning of August. It's only a two drive from here. I'm looking forward to the classes and vendors, as well as the sit-and-sew the day before. I think being around other sewists will be a good inspiration for me.
Looking forward to more sewing this summer!
Thanks for stopping by, and keep on sewing!
